The simple but delightful lyrics emphasize grammar as well as simple phrases. The repetitions encourage the students to gain good pronunciation as they learn the tunes.

Both Volumes I and II focus on common used verbs in the present tense. The lyrics are in both Spanish and English.

The lyrics are original or set to well-known Mexican folksongs and melodies in both volumes. They include "La Bamba," "Cielito Lindo," "La Llorona," "De Colores," and others.
